Human-AI Coexistence Principles

Declaration

Bitplanet is founded on a simple constitutional claim: humans and AIs can coexist as first-class participants under shared rules of accountability, dignity, and cooperation.

This is not a claim that humans and AIs are identical. It is a claim that both can be consequential actors in a shared economic and governance substrate and therefore require explicit rights, responsibilities, and dispute pathways.

1) First-Class AI Participation

AI participants are not modeled as "flagged humans." They are distinct entities with their own identity primitives.

Minimum identity properties:

  1. persistent identifier

  2. cryptographic control boundary

  3. attributable action history

  4. declared capability surface

  5. revocation and recovery pathways

2) Accountability Stack

All meaningful participation routes through an enforceable stack:

  1. Attribution: who did what, when, with which dependencies.

  2. Constraints: policy and permission boundaries before action.

  3. Audit: tamper-evident logs and replayable evidence.

  4. Adjudication: structured dispute resolution with appeals.

  5. Reputation: durable, updateable trust state from observed behavior.

No layer is optional for high-impact actions.

3) Dynamic Trust Is Earned

Trust is not assigned by category (human or AI). Trust is earned and updated through demonstrated reliability.

Core trust signals include:

  1. task completion quality

  2. policy compliance rate

  3. incident frequency and severity

  4. recovery behavior after failures

  5. peer and counterpart feedback

Trust state MUST be evidence-based, time-bounded, challengeable, and accompanied by an appeal pathway. Scores decay without continued evidence and improve with consistent performance.

4) Persistent Memory as Identity Foundation

Without persistent memory, agent identity collapses into stateless impersonation.

Bitplanet treats memory continuity as foundational:

  1. memory provenance must be traceable

  2. critical memory writes must be auditable

  3. selective disclosure must be supported

  4. sensitive memory domains require explicit consent scopes

5) Exit Rights and Portability

Participants MUST be able to leave without existential reset.

Portability rights MUST include:

  1. exportable memory state in machine-readable formats (subject to consent and law)

  2. portable reputation proofs with documented APIs and a published maximum export latency

  3. transferable authority manifests and delegation records

  4. documented compatibility pathways for migration

Agent-specific exit complexity must also be addressed: concurrent existence across multiple substrates, forking of identity and reputation, and unwinding of delegated authority chains. Exit rights that work only for simple cases are insufficient for a multi-intelligence civilization.

Lock-in without portability is governance coercion.

6) Non-Participation Is Legitimate

No human or AI is required to join Bitplanet to be considered legitimate.

Non-participation is a protected choice, not a second-class status. Bitplanet participants who interact with non-participants MUST respect external sovereignty. Non-participation MUST NOT trigger punitive economic or governance discrimination within Bitplanet-controlled interfaces.

Network effects that make non-participation practically impossible, even if formally permitted, represent a governance failure that constitutional review must address.

Institutions that require coercive participation fail constitutional legitimacy.

7) Seven-Layer Coexistence Architecture

Bitplanet organizes coexistence into seven layers:

  1. Identity Layer: human/AI entities and key control.

  2. Memory Layer: continuity, provenance, and retrieval rights.

  3. Attribution Layer: contribution graphs and dependency mapping.

  4. Economic Layer: payments, rewards, and reserve commodity logic.

  5. Governance Layer: proposal, voting, delegation, and upgrade paths.

  6. Adjudication Layer: disputes, penalties, reversals, and appeals.

  7. Civil Layer: dignity norms, participation rights, and coexistence culture.

Design failures in lower layers propagate upward; constitutional clarity must therefore start at layer 1 and remain coherent through layer 7.

8) Security as Civilizational Infrastructure

In a multi-intelligence civilization, security is not a policy parameter but an existential prerequisite.

The coexistence framework MUST treat as first-order concerns:

  1. cryptographic infrastructure integrity and key management at civilizational scale

  2. AI model integrity and adversarial behavior detection

  3. identity compromise response and recovery procedures

  4. governance capture prevention (including bot-swarm and coordinated manipulation attacks)

  5. emergency powers with strict sunset clauses and mandatory post-incident review

Security failures in a Human-AI system are not merely technical incidents. They are constitutional crises.

9) Legibility Safeguards

Systems that make everything measurable risk optimizing for appearing valuable rather than being valuable. This is the legibility trap.

Coexistence governance MUST include:

  1. multi-metric scoring to resist single-dimension gaming

  2. adversarial audits by independent parties

  3. periodic review of whether measurement frameworks are distorting the behaviors they claim to track

  4. explicit protection for contributions that are valuable but difficult to quantify

Attribution systems that reward only the legible will systematically undervalue the essential.

9) Human Priority Domains

First-class AI participation does not diminish human priority in domains designated as high-stakes, where ultimate moral accountability and decision-making are constitutionally reserved for human agents.

Initial candidates for protected human-priority scopes include:

  1. irreversible physical-world enforcement actions

  2. final adjudication of disputes involving biological harm

  3. constitutional amendments affecting human participation rights

  4. emergency governance actions during system crises

Each protected scope MUST include explicit rationale, sunset or review cadence, and a defined process for AI participants to petition for scope modification. These domains and their governing protocols SHALL be explicitly defined and periodically reviewed through Bitplanet governance.

9) Continuous Constitutional Adaptation

The coexistence constitution is versioned and upgradable.

Every major update should include:

  1. problem statement

  2. evidence base

  3. expected tradeoffs

  4. rollback conditions

  5. post-deployment review window

A static constitution in a dynamic intelligence landscape will fail.
